Dew Tour Brings Record Setting Turnout in Ocean City
Posted by Shorebread | Wednesday, July 27, 2011
The Dew Tour was in town this past weekend, if you hadn't noticed the huge vert ramp and stands constructed on the beach in downtown Ocean City, MD. As a beach town, we are already familiarized with the surf & skate lifestyle, but we were inundated with athletes and fans alike riding their bikes and boards. The construction started the week before the event began, with this year being the first Dew Tour stop to host a Skateboard Bowl competition. Amazingly this skateboard bowl,...READ POST.

Dirty Reggae Comes to Ocean City MD

I remember the day I was exposed to Ska, an infectiously fun style of music that makes you move. Back in the 90's during college, going to see The Toasters, Reel Big Fish, Spring Heeled Jack and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were influential shows in my life. More recently I have come to appreciate reggae, as many of the beach bars locally have reggae bands perform. So it's only natural that I would love The Aggrolites, as they are a blend of ska and reggae. The band formed almost a decade ago in...READ POST.

Lord of the Fries

There’s a man who holds court in a small white stand on the
Ocean City boardwalk, nearly every day, while the weather is nice. He oversees your vacation, watches your
children’s eager faces, and hands out the boardwalk’s most coveted food. He makes sure that the famous potatoes
uphold the integrity of the original recipe started in 1929. He is Les Morris, commonly known amongst
his co-workers, as “Lord of the Fries” at the infamous boardwalk...READ POST.

Local Challenge Tuesday - Joy of Gardening
Posted by Shorebread | Thursday, June 30, 2011
We planted a very small garden of our own this year, using heirloom plants that we bought from the Good Farm's plant sale this spring. Lemon basil, 2 types of heirloom tomatos, white cucumber, and some type of melon. They have made it through this dry spring, and are currently thriving. Spent the weekend weeding and watering, and that is such a good feeling! I never thought that gardening could be so meditative. Getting the dirt under your nails, and sweating as much as I did, changed my...READ POST.
